Us Three One Show / Traces of Movement
2026 | Exhibition, Installation
Us Three One Show: Traces of Movement intersects the worlds the artists have left behind and the worlds they have come from through narrative and action. Twenty-five artists, centered on Seoul, Tokyo, and Chicago and moving through places such as Bogotá, Berlin, Brasilia, Santiago, and Miami, revisit the traces of movement each artist has carried at Tokyo's Gallery Kobun.

In this project, movement does not take the form of a linear route connecting one geographic coordinate to another. As an experiential condition in which artists perceive the world, sense their own being, and in which memories intersect, movement crosses in parabolic arcs that carry different layers of time and sensation. With their respective attitudes, the artists distinctly embody the distance and the boundary between the site of creation where work is produced and the exhibition site that we confront. For the artists, the exhibition space in Tokyo is perceived not as a site of production, but as a detached exterior; the inevitable cognitive gap that arises in that moment calls into question the very ways materiality enters into relations within the exhibition space.

While retracing the boundaries of places set in different time zones, they ask again what routes have been forgotten or omitted at the site they have reached. This question inevitably leads to a reckoning with the artist's position: "Where am I now, emotionally and physically?" By re-contextualizing spatial qualities and materiality through different media, they detect the irony surrounding the artist's transformed presence within familiar landscapes, as well as fleeting moments trapped in traces of movement. The traces the twenty-five artists draw up from their own singular places are brought into the here and now. On a new plane of intersecting actions, they reveal how the art before us comes into being.
